Comino & the Blue Lagoon: book the visit, then plan the day

Treat the lagoon reservation, boat journey and island essentials as three separate tasks.

Why go

Comino sits between Malta and Gozo and is best known for the Blue Lagoon. Visit Gozo also points visitors toward Santa Marija Bay, the island’s historic tower and its walking landscape. That makes it worth deciding whether you want a busy lagoon visit, a boat outing or a longer exploration on land. They are different experiences. The Blue Lagoon visitor system introduced in 2025 requires advance reservation of a free time slot. Use the official booking information for the current rules rather than assuming that buying a boat ticket settles entry arrangements.

Keep the bookings separate

First choose the lagoon visit time, then arrange transport that actually fits it. Confirm the boat’s departure point, return time and what happens if sea conditions change. A cruise itinerary and a direct transfer may offer very different amounts of time ashore. Save the relevant confirmations where you can retrieve them without relying on a strong connection. If you want to walk beyond the lagoon, choose a realistic route and leave an ample margin to return to the correct boat. Do not make the last possible connection your preferred plan.

Pack for the island you are visiting

Bring sufficient water, sun protection and footwear suitable for rough ground. Do not rely on seasonal kiosks to meet every need, and take your rubbish away. Assess the sea locally and keep any swim within your abilities and the designated area. Our suggested duration depends on the chosen boat and visit slot; it is not a transport promise. If the forecast is unsuitable, consider moving the outing rather than forcing it into the itinerary. Use the official lagoon portal and the boat operator’s current information again shortly before departure.
