Distinguish the island’s shores
Santa Marija Bay is a separate Comino destination from the Blue Lagoon. Decide whether you want to walk there, arrive on an operator’s planned itinerary or remain around your original landing point. A boat ticket to Comino does not necessarily include every bay or a transfer between them. Clarify that before beginning the island part of the day.
Carry what the walk requires
Check the established public route and allow for exposure, footwear and the return. Bring water and essentials rather than depending on facilities mentioned in an old guide. The official Comino walking leaflet is useful context but includes historical service information that should not be assumed current. Keep vegetation and structures undisturbed as you cross the island.
Keep the departure firmly in view
Agree on your actual return landing and departure time, with a margin for a slower walk. Do not let the appeal of a quieter shore make the final stage a race. A dry-land pause is worthwhile when water conditions do not suit. Follow current visitor instructions and shorten the route if access, weather or the group’s energy makes the original plan uncomfortable.
The useful details.
- Confirm your exact return landing place.
- Carry water for the walk in both directions.
- Treat old facility references as historical context.
