Ta’ Ġurdan hill: plan the ascent, enjoy the panorama

The hill and lighthouse area offer a broad Gozo perspective; allow for the climb and keep building access separate from the outdoor visit.

Separate hill and building

Ta’ Ġurdan is known for its lighthouse and its high position in western Gozo. A visit to the hill is not automatically a visit inside the lighthouse. Check any advertised opening independently and avoid promising an interior tour when arranging the outing. The landscape and changing views can be the main purpose, with no building entry required.

Give the climb enough time

Choose an established approach and allow a comfortable pace for both ascent and descent. A short distance on the map may still involve a meaningful gradient. Bring water and consider exposure before setting off. If your group has different abilities, agree on a lower meeting point rather than having someone wait alone on an unfamiliar section.

Choose the larger route carefully

The official Ta’ Ġurdan Walk begins and ends in Għarb and links the lighthouse area, Ta’ Pinu and surrounding valleys. Read the complete route before deciding whether it matches your day. A focused hill visit and a full circular walk are distinct choices. Preserve enough daylight for the final section and avoid crossing fields to shorten the published itinerary.
