St Thomas Bay: a south-eastern shore day at a local pace

Keep a visit to the bay distinct from the longer Marsaskala promenade and any proposed headland walk.

Choose your starting point

St Thomas Bay is associated with the Marsaskala area but is not the same place as the main harbour promenade. Check where your bus, lift or accommodation actually leaves you. Beginning with the right shore avoids an unexpectedly long walk with beach equipment. Agree on a recognisable meeting point before members of the group explore independently.

Let the shoreline guide the visit

Look at the public access and local signs before deciding where to stop. Keep working routes clear and avoid treating every visible coastal structure as a visitor facility. If you want a meal, watersports or hired equipment, confirm the service and its location directly. A shore walk or a relaxed pause can be enough without entering the sea.

Keep any extension intentional

The surrounding coast may invite a longer walk, but a line along a headland needs its own route check. Choose an established public connection, account for exposure and leave enough energy for the return. Alternatively, finish with a separate Marsaskala waterfront stop and use ordinary transport between the two. Do not let the word bay conceal the time needed to move around the locality.

PLAN YOUR VISIT

The useful details.

  • Check bay versus harbour-prom access.
  • Confirm hired services before relying on them.
  • Treat headland walking as a separate plan.
