Compare the shape before the distance

Gozo’s official walking collection includes circuits returning to Victoria, Għarb, Nadur or Mġarr and point-to-point routes such as Marsalforn to Ramla and Mġarr to Xlendi. This distinction changes the day’s logistics. A circular route keeps your starting point relevant; a point-to-point route needs an independent return plan. Neither is automatically easier because it has a shorter distance.

Choose what you want to notice

Select one theme: cultivated valleys, village life, a coastal panorama or the salt-working landscape. That makes it easier to choose stops and resist detours that do not add much to your day. Check how gradients and rocky sections match the people walking. The route’s published difficulty label is only a starting point for that conversation.

Build a way to finish early

Look for a settlement where you could use ordinary transport if the weather changes or someone tires. Check current services instead of copying a bus number from an old booklet. Carry water, an offline map and a charged phone. Respect barriers and field boundaries even if a shortcut would make the return more convenient. A shortened, well-finished walk is still a successful day.
