Two days of Gozo landscapes: north first, west second

A two-day outline that separates coastal areas and leaves enough space to notice their different character.

Make the first day coherent

Spend the first day around Marsalforn, Qbajjar, Xwejni and the salt-pan coast, selecting a manageable stretch rather than walking every connection. Start and finish near services if that makes transport easier. The combination provides everyday waterfront life alongside an unusual coastal working landscape. Keep a chosen café or village pause in the plan so the day does not become a continuous sequence of roadside stops.

Give the west a separate day

On the second day, make Dwejra the main destination. Spend time understanding the Inland Sea, surrounding coast and geological setting from the visitor areas. Boat activity is conditional and separate from the land visit. Do not plan around the Azure Window, which collapsed in 2017. Add a nearby village pause only if it fits the available transport and your remaining energy.

Leave the sequence reversible

Weather, transport and personal priorities may make it sensible to swap the days. Neither coast should be described as automatically safe or sheltered because of its position on the map. Check current conditions and access, and allow a town-based alternative when an exposed outing is unsuitable. Two satisfying areas are a better use of time than a rushed island circuit repeated twice.

PLAN YOUR VISIT

The useful details.

  • Keep the north and west on separate days.
  • Treat Dwejra boating as a conditional extra.
  • Swap or shorten days when conditions require it.
