Explain the gap before reserving dives
Gozo has a wide range of diving centres and shore and boat sites, but a long gap since your last dive deserves its own discussion. Send the centre your qualification, approximate number of dives, most recent experience and the kind of equipment you have used. Ask what refresher or assessment they recommend before choosing a package. A famous underwater photograph cannot establish whether a site suits you.
Make the opening day flexible
Keep the first day free of ambitious sightseeing transfers. You may need time for paperwork, equipment fitting and a discussion with the instructor. Ask how transport to the entry point works and what the quoted session includes. Book accommodation and arrival travel with enough room for that process rather than treating the first dive as an appointment immediately after the ferry.
Review the plan with the centre
Tell the team if your comfort level changes during the session. They can explain the available next steps and whether the remaining programme needs adjustment. Keep qualification and insurance documents accessible, and raise health or fitness questions through the centre’s required process and an appropriate professional. This is holiday planning, not a substitute for individual assessment or practical training.
The useful details.
- Contact a centre before buying a multi-dive package.
- Bring your qualification and recent diving record.
- Leave the first session’s location to the operator’s assessment.
