Questions to ask before a Gozo boat-diving day

A boat-based programme needs a little extra clarity about boarding, the time away from shore and the actual dive itinerary.

Understand the boat arrangement

Ask whether the trip uses a dedicated dive boat and where you board. Confirm how equipment is loaded, the boarding method and what assistance is available. The accommodation pickup point and harbour departure point may be different. A boat dive is a particular activity organised around divers; it should not be confused with a general coastal sightseeing cruise that happens to stop for swimming.

Read the time commitment

Find out how long the group expects to be away, the number of planned sessions and what food, water or shelter is included. Ask what happens to personal bags and whether there is space for a non-diving companion. Discuss any individual needs with the operator before reserving. A seat available on a website does not answer these practical questions.

Treat destinations as conditional

Gozo’s coastline, nearby Comino and offshore sites offer different possibilities, but the operator must choose a plan appropriate to conditions and participants. Ask about alternatives, cancellations and refund terms in writing. Keep the rest of the day free enough for a changed departure or return. Confirm all relevant travel timing with the dive centre rather than relying on a sightseeing itinerary.
