Start with the learning programme
TOI TOI is Teatru Manoel’s learning and participation programme. Its productions are designed for particular ages, which makes the programme a useful starting point for a family theatre outing. The range is broader than a single children’s show: published productions include puppetry, music, storytelling and performances for older pupils. Look at the description together and choose a subject the child wants to explore, rather than assuming every family production suits every age.
Read the individual production details
The booking page gives the admission age, running time, producer and venue. Some TOI TOI productions take place in the Studio Theatre on Old Mint Street, which is a different entrance from the main auditorium. Check the performance language and whether the selected session is a public show or a school booking. For a first visit, a shorter production with a familiar form may be easier to enjoy than a long evening performance.
Make room for the conversation afterwards
Build a small Valletta outing around the show: meet before the performance, find the correct door and leave time afterwards to discuss favourite characters or ideas. A drawing, a retelling of the story or a question for the programme can extend the experience without turning it into homework. Keep the current production page as the reference for the date and access arrangements; an archived show is useful inspiration but does not establish today’s programme.
