What makes it worth visiting

Ta’ Ħaġrat lies within Mġarr village and consists of two prehistoric megalithic structures. Heritage Malta identifies its use of local Upper Coralline Limestone and its place within Malta's UNESCO-listed group of megalithic sites. The appeal is concentrated rather than extensive: a monumental doorway, the arrangement of spaces and the relationship between large blocks provide enough material for a careful visit without the scale of a full archaeological park.

A visit that works

Begin by looking at the entrance and then compare the overall plan with the information provided. Notice changes in the size and arrangement of stones rather than trying to supply a complete missing roof in your imagination. Think about what is visible evidence and what would require archaeological interpretation. After the site, walk back into Mġarr for a break. The village setting makes it easy to turn a focused archaeological visit into a relaxed inland afternoon.

Plan the details

The official visitor page states that tickets are not sold at the site. Buy through Heritage Malta or a currently authorised outlet before presenting yourself at the entrance. Check the opening schedule and any combined-ticket conditions for Skorba. The two sites need a separate transfer even when purchased together. Keep to the visitor route and avoid touching or climbing the stonework. Choose practical footwear and bring water; a compact site still deserves suitable preparation when shade or weather is a concern.
