Browse by subject
The University of Malta’s Newspoint events pages publish talks, exhibitions, discussions and other activities from across the university. Subjects range from film and archaeology to science, language and public policy. A public lecture can give a visitor a different perspective on Malta’s intellectual life and provide a regular activity for a longer-stay resident. Begin with a topic you would enjoy hearing about, then open the full event notice instead of relying on the short calendar heading.
Establish who can attend
An item appearing on a university calendar is not automatically an unrestricted public event. Some notices explicitly welcome the public, while others address students, alumni, conference delegates or registered participants. Read the audience, registration and fee information on the individual page. The Institute of Digital Games, for example, labels different events with different access conditions. Ask the organiser if the notice leaves the position unclear; an academic title alone does not establish admission.
Follow the venue and format
University activities can happen on the Msida campus, in Valletta, at a partner venue or online. Record the room and building as well as the start time, and note the language and expected format where stated. If there is preparatory reading, decide whether you want that kind of participation. A small discussion and a large public lecture offer different experiences. Save the organiser’s update channel and leave a little time afterwards for questions or an informal conversation.
