Separate bags from sightseeing
Check your accommodation’s luggage policy before checkout. Storage, access to a toilet and use of other facilities may be separate permissions, so ask directly. If the hotel cannot hold bags, compare a commercial storage location with the airport’s luggage deposit service. Malta International Airport’s help centre confirms a deposit service in the Check-in Hall. Choose the arrangement that minimises repeated journeys, not simply the one closest to your first sightseeing stop.
Work backwards from collection
Record the bag collection deadline, identification requirement and the route onwards. A storage booking is only useful if you can retrieve the bag in time for check-in. Avoid a final outing that depends on several bus changes or an island crossing. A long lunch or one nearby museum is easier to shorten than a boat tour. Keep passports, medicines, valuables and flight documents with you rather than inside deposited luggage.
Finish with a calm transfer
Leave extra room for traffic and the process of collecting bags. If your flight changes, contact the storage provider before extending the day. Retain the receipt or booking code offline and photograph a distinctive bag detail in case you need to describe it. On reaching the airport, check the airline’s desk and baggage rules directly; storage collection does not replace the airline’s own check-in deadline.
